Summary: The Salamander King Is an indie comedy that focuses on a group of Austinites who work and play in a city golf course – also known as That is – This is threatened by extinction due to the rapid growth of the city. The main characters are an increasingly endangered species in Austin – outsider and creative types that take the city’s mantra: keep Austin strange. The film is also a story about the universal desire to be part of a community, and the need for common public spaces. Despite their different backgrounds, the MISFITS in Muny share a strong bond with each other and consider the course to be essential for the preservation of their “found family”.

The Salamander King: The ultimate love letter to Austin

We have already told you that this film was a love letter to Austin, but the line -up confirms it with one Friday night light Reunion. Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette) and Brad Leland (Buddy Garrity) meet on the screen and let us tell us clear eyes and full hearts – and you really can’t lose with this film. Funny fact: Austin Nichols is also a Friday night light Alum. He was not long in it, but maybe they remember him as Noah, the teacher who was a little too familiar with his student Julie Taylor.

Friday night light Apart from the film, an urban Austin golf course, also known as AKA That is This is full of characters. The problem is that your relaxed management skills can lead to your closure. If a California transplant played by Adrianne Palicki occurs, she wants to save the place, but wants to remove part of the quirky charm for which it stands. The crew hesitates and knows that there must be changes, but wants to show it what the golf course and Austin really stand for.

They show them all over the city and do everything in Austin, from Barton Springs (filmed as a Krause Springs) to a picturesque selfie on Mount Bonnell and even went to drink in Deep Eddy. The film captures what Austin has gone through over the years – to need change, but tries to hold on to its essence. During the entire film we were on a roller coaster from emotions from joy, sadness, nostalgia to hope. If you love Austin as we love, it’s a must.

The places they will recognize in the film include:

    • Yellow rose
    • Krause Springs
    • Deep Eddy Cabaret
    • Dreamer (yes, this dreamer)
    • Peter Pan Mini-Golf
    • Mom prefers to
    • Berg Bonnell
    • Threadgills (rip)

This was Austin Nichol’s directorial debut and we are very excited to see what comes next to him. We hope he keeps talking to Austin-Inspired stories, there are so many to tell! PS We love Austin Nichols because you have added Chicken Shit Bingo to the film. Nothing says “Keep Austin Strange” like Chicken Shit Bingo.

We interviewed Nichols on the red carpet at Diff and asked him Texas this or that! Here is what he had to say:
