The ATX TV Festival Ended exactly as it started – with big celebrity appearances (hello, Billy Bob!) And a tribute to one of the biggest television programs of all time. But first let’s talk about what leads to these exciting events!
Bill Lawrence and Zach Braff
The day started with Bill Lawrence and Zach Braff spoke about poor advice and great television. The two favorite moments of Peelingincluding the legendary “Adler!” Scene that had the whole quantity of paramount in stitches. Funny fact-someone in the audience was wearing a T-shirt with a precise quote. When Zach discovered him, he grinned and said something like: “I’ll sign it for you later.” The guy frozen. It was perfect.
They also opened the unforgettable musical episode of the show. Both are die-hard theater fans, and you could feel the joy in the room when they remembered to bring their Broadway love into the world of the holy heart. The questions and answers with the same warm, funny energy for which you are known. It was like hanging out of college with your funniest friends.
Binging on the brunch with plex
After the panel, we closed the people of Plex for an airy brunch on the flowering period to get a brunch on the flowering period on the Hyatt Centric. It showed great food, thematic drinks and solid conversations with other TV fans. With a wonderful view of the city center of Austin, this was the moment you want to fill and store. We took the time to check your funny ads, scan the QR codes and add our observation list before the afternoon stepped back into the full equipment.
A Texan honor for Billy Bob Thornton
Next was one of the most emotional moments of the festival – the Texas made Award ceremony for Landman. Billy Bob Thornton entered the stage together with co-creator Christian Wallace and the actors Jacob Loflland and Michelle Randolph. They talked about what it means to make a show in Texas and why shooting Landman Somewhere else – especially Vancouver – would simply not work.
“Texans have an atmosphere that they cannot fault”, proclaimed Thornton and attributes a large part of the authenticity of the show local background actors who give him heart and grit. The pride for Texas ran deep and you could feel it in every word.
Thank you for being a friend
If you Follow us on social mediaIt shouldn’t be a surprise that the script and conversation with the 40th anniversary of Golden Girls was a real highlight of the festival. The event began with girls in the drag who went through the theater and distributed Butterscotch sweeties while the crowd became wild. Live musicians have set the audience with favorite songs from the show, including the legendary title song. Then the impressive line -up started the pilot. Nathan Lee Graham (Coco/stage directions)Constance Zimmer (Dorothy)Yvette Nicole Brown (Rose)Carrie Preston (Blanche)Pamela Adlon (Sophia)Dan Bucatinsky (Harry)and Jeffrey Bower Chapman (Police officer/minister). Vella Lovell (Jean) joined for the second episode.
Brown was flawless like Rose! Preston brought Blanche an emotional depth that surprised the audience and enthusiastically. Room nailed Dorothy. And Adlon was incarnated again Sophia Petrillo. We laughed, we cried, we cry with the line -up. The second episode showed the delicate handling of important topics when Jean spoke out her love for Rose. The timing that it is the first day of Pride Month could not have been better.
Moderator Hope Sloop from Decider brought down the house when she mentioned that the original actors could not be there because they were not available! She had a thoughtful and inspiring conversation that women were in power at all ages and the value of choosing her family. In the true spirit of the festival, the last message was: “Thank you for being a friend!”
