    Elon Musk leaves Dogy

Elon Musk leaves his position as de facto manager of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) and announces his departure via X on Wednesday. An anonymous civil servant of the White House confirmed Musk’s departure to Musk AP.

“Since my planned time comes to an end as a special government agent, I would like to thank President @Raldonaldtrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful expenses,” wrote Musk. “The @Doge mission will only fortify itself over time because it becomes a way of life in the entire government.”

Although Musk explained that his time at Doge was “planned”, there was no clear indication of how long he would be involved before the announcement of this week. While it became known in February that the official of the White House of Amy Gleason had been appointed DOGE’s acting administrator some time earlier, Musk has so far been responsible in practical terms.

Musk previously indicated that he would reduce his participation in Dogge during the Tesla win in April. The billionaire said that he would “significantly” lower the time he spent in Doge in May and increase his attention to Tesla. At the time when he did not say he would leave Dogen and promised “as long as it is useful”, and President Donald Trump wanted him to stay.

It seems now, although Musk believes that time has come to an end. While Trump has not yet given a public explanation for his departure, the news comes a day after Musk has unusually criticized the tax law of the President, and explains that it “not only increases the budget deficit, not only reduces and undermining the work that the THE does.

Although Musk initially claimed that Doge would reduce government expenses by at least 2 trillion dollars, reality has broken off far from it. In April he revised DGE’s gate to 150 billion US dollars, a mere fraction of the cuts that were initially promised. In the meantime, the US governmental authorities were thrown through the actions of Doge in turbulence, with over 280,000 government workers being released. Doge has also worked to completely reduce several agencies, including the US Agency for International Development (USA), a foreign aid organization.

Musk is expected to bring his attention back to its various companies, including Tesla, X and SpaceX. Such companies have publicly weakened in the past few months and struggled against severe reputation damage caused by the largely unpopular political work of Musk.

Tesla’s turnover has decreased worldwide to have a profit decline of 71 percent in the first quarter of 2025. SpaceX does not seem to have suffered that much, but the explosion of its latest Starship test flight on Tuesday was less than ideal – especially if you consider that the company was “quickly unscheduled” of the company.

Speak to Ars Technica Before the start of SpaceX and the announcement that he would leave Doge, Musk admitted that he had spent too much time for politics instead of leading his companies.

“I think I probably spent a little too much time for politics (although) It is less than people,” said Musk. “It is not as if I had left the companies. It was only a relative distribution of time that was probably a little too high on the government side, and I have significantly reduced it in the past few weeks.”
